You Know I'm Here
Written by Jon Reider, Illustrated by Noa Ne’eman
When someone we love dies, they don’t really leave us. They stay in our hearts forever, surrounding us with love in ways we may not always see, but can always feel.
This book is for everyone who has ever missed someone who died. It’s a reminder that even when we can’t see them, the people we love never really go away.
- Lynda Fishman, Author, Repairing Rainbows
On the last night of Myra’s Kids grief camp, everyone comes together for a special lantern ceremony that takes place at the edge of the lake.
In the darkness of night, with only the blinking stars as a guiding light, each child places their specially decorated lantern on a floating dock after sending a message to their loved one who has died.
When everyone has placed their lanterns on the dock and the community of lights join together, the dock is pushed out to float on the lake.
With the stars above and the lanterns aglow, earth and sky are tethered— and there’s a feeling of oneness with those who are no longer with us.
You Know I’m Here is read out loud during this special moment in time, as the lanterns float out onto the water.
